Yeshiva Darchei Torah - Far Rockaway
Dear Parents, עמו"ש:
We are excited to share the great news: Be’ezras Hashem, Yeshiva Darchei Torah will be reopening for regular, in-person learning this Elul!
Rest assured that, under the direction of Rav Yaakov Bender, our administrators and menahelim are diligently preparing to open the Yeshiva in a manner as close to normal as possible, while fully complying with New York State’s guidelines and those of our medical advisors.
These preparations are focused on three areas: Health and safety; curriculum planning to compensate for lost class time; and, most importantly, our stellar chinuch, rooted in the relationship between rebbi/morah and talmid.
Please note that the following dates remain the same:
Medrash and Kollel begin on Sunday, August 23rd, ג' אלול
Mesivta Chaim Shlomo begins on Monday, August 24th, ד' אלול
Grades 6-8 begin on Wednesday, September 2nd, י"ג אלול
Grades 1-5 begin on Thursday, September 3rd, י"ד אלול
Preschool classes will begin according to schedule as well.
Please keep in mind that New York State requires a 14-day period of quarantine for those who have traveled to Florida, California and 29 other states. No students returning from any of these states will be allowed in Yeshiva until after completing their quarantine. Please make your plans accordingly.
According to New York State’s guidelines for the reopening of schools, the following will be required:
Staff and students will be surveyed daily and their temperature will be checked. Any person exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms will be asked to remain home.
Masks must be worn in all common areas.
Frequent washing or disinfection of hands.
Maintaining social distance as much as possible.
Extensive cleaning and disinfection will be done throughout the Yeshiva campus, and other protocols will be put in place as well. This effort also includes contingency plans, should a change in circumstances warrant it.
Our hanhala will stay up-to-date with the latest guidance from government and medical authorities and will use that to implement the most efficient protocols for our talmidim’s learning, growth, and safety. As the opening dates approach, we will be sharing more specific protocols. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to the hanhala at safety@darchei.org.
We daven and hope that everyone remains healthy and safe, and we look forward to an exciting and productive school year ahead.
Warmly,
Rabbi Eli Biegeleisen
Chairman, The Re-opening Committee
