TAG is being closed by the NY health department
Wow you are fast! The health department notified them that they need to close down less than an hour ago.

Am hearing that TAG still does not know why they were closed down. Assume its COVID related but the school is not saying anything.

Anyone have info?

I've only heard unconfirmed rumors of allegations of being less than forthcoming with DOH.

It is because there were 17 cases in the school. The fact that the infections were not contracted in the school is meaningless to them as they have no way of confirming that. From their perspective it sounds like a cluster of cases that is threatening an outbreak.

FTR they have followed all guidelines (including plexiglass at each desk) and notified the City of every single case they knew of.

Just received the following on WA:

Fw: DO NOT test your child for covid. The city has released new guidelines that mandate CLOSURE of an ENTIRE SCHOOL if there are two positive tests in the school. Magen David and YDE have already been shut down. If your child is sick please keep them home, and indicate they have a stomach ache or other symptoms not consistent with covid. The administration's hands are tied because of health department guidelines so it is up to the parents to make sure our school stays open. Please pass the word along; DO NOT TEST YOUR CHILD FOR COVID. See  https://www.schools.nyc.gov/school-year-20-21/return-to-school-2020/health-and-safety for more info on the city's policy regarding school closures.

It’s very clear that BDB is trying to close as many schools as possible as an excuse to push off opening public schools again

I didn't think of that, but it makes a lot of sense...

This is why we have people refusing to test.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

What would your threshold for closing a school be?

It is one of the reasons, corrrect. And it’s somewhat understandable, if they’ll be quarantining the child without testing

If you don't test, you also lose contact tracing, which is important in a school setting.

It's extremely understandable, it's the only way out of this overreaching government oversight. What to do with a child presenting symptoms is a different question.

How old are your kids and what did you do with them during the last lockdown?

As the father of 4, including one who unwittingly brought it home from school right after Purim and infected my whole house, I would respectfully disagree with your position.

After a person has seen how this disease impacts their own family (including ongoing complications six months later) when there were no warnings or precautions, it changes the perspective.

I'm not sure what you're disagreeing on.

Don't close them.

This is why I asked you how old your kids are and what you did with them last time.

You can't just categorically say that schools should never close.

If there is a massive spread in a school, you can't just keep the school open and allow kids to keep infecting other kids and bringing it home to their families.

The two are somewhat related you know?
Because we have an issue with excessive government oversight the only option is to separate them.

Yet that has been demonstrated not to be an option.
