Listening to Lichtenstein speak, I keep on thinking how he simply "doesn't get it".
To say that a shliach gets מפטיר יונה in שמים is so far out of touch of what shluchim and shlichus are about.
To put things into the perspective of my FIL (whose father was sent by the Friediker Rebbe), he says that growing up there was never the concept of shlichus in his home. You just do what you're supposed to do.
It was a great speech, but it hit differently than so many other keynotes from prior years, I can’t quite pinpoint why.
Disclaimer: I never liked DL as a podcaster, but I think there’s more than that bias to my take on his talk.
The Panama presentation was amazing. That community member who’s stated mission is to make sure every Jewish man in Panama puts on Tefillin daily, and the sincerity with which he spoke, was a massive inspiration.
