IIRC WLCC only opened up shop there in the late 80s, up until then everything was done from the room in 770.

When smoking in 770 was commonplace.
When Cigarettes were around $1 a pack.
When soda cans were around 50 cents retail.
When people would have never dreamed of paying for expensive coffee and a coffee was a regular (or Sanka) from Ess & Bentch with non-dairy creamer.

I don't recall cigarettes being sold by a vending machine at Ess & Bentch. They were sold over the counter IIRC (I'm not a smoker, so I don't have personal experience with this).

If you were old enough to smoke (even if you didn't smoke) when ess & bentsch was still around then you are older than I realized.
