Hotel stays: when traveling with a family of 5
« on: July 19, 2020, 01:11:03 AM »
I’m curious, what does everyone do when traveling as a family? Do you book 2 rooms? It’s very hard to find adjoining rooms and my kids are too young to stay in a separate room.
It seems like most hotels let up to 5 people stay in 1 room, so I might try to squish into 1 room, but what does a family with 2 parents and 4 kids do?

Alot of people will take 2-3 rooms and ask the hotel for joining rooms, if they refuse then make to do with 1 room.

Other options are, suites, airbnb and RV.....

You can try buying a timeshare in the resell  market.

Any leads on where to find something like that from reliable sources?

There are forums just like DDF for timeshare related content and works just as the DDF community, build reputation....

Or just buy thru some  3rd party reseller with a reputation

Two bedroom trio suite at Hyatt houses is a great option for families. You have a king in one room,  two doubles + a sofa and there is plenty of space for a pack n play etc.

Are those suites usually expensive?
I wanna try to avoid paying for 2 rooms. I’d really let my kids sleep on the floor. They’re young enough that they won’t care. I’m just not sure if hotels usually let. They usually have a max occupancy of 5 or 6 per room. Do hotels care if you put too many kids in 1 room? Do they have a way of knowing!

It'll definitely be more expensive. Booking premium suites with points just got much easier for Hyatt and Hyatt houses are often fairly affordable pointswise, so a 8k points hotel's premium suites still will only be 16k points
Jury Duty: Nothing to do there but chill and write a TR. Kinda like the beach but missing the view and ocean breeze.

Residence Inn suites (one of the Marriott brands) is all suites and include a kitchenette with a large Fridge/Freezer.

The "2 queen + a sofa bed" sleep 6 comfortably (without using the floor) including plenty of space to spread out.

Many are category 4 or 5 (if using points). That's my favorite brand when travelling with the family.

If you book 2 rooms, they expect 1 adult to be in each.
