It definitely makes sense, if it's true or not is another question. You're essentially telling your immune system that it's important to keep these antibodies around, just like a vaccine.

+1 was wondering the same as well. Would love to see some science about this proving either way.

What makes you think I’m being antagonistic? I genuinely want to know where he’s heard such a thing.

Read your post. He wrote that he heard it in his wondering.
I do think some people have resorted to making things up as an excuse not to mask. If someone has heard of science that contends it would be beneficial, I’d like to hear it. If not, it’s fake news, as is a lot of the supposed science we’re seeing.

“Are masks actually harmful?”

If there is science that says it, I’d love to see it.

It's become a religion, "we don't ask such questions".

I don't think thats it. I think it's much more that boich svara "wonderings" that seem to be aimed at discouraging the one action that the consensus of the entire medical community believes to be most beneficial at mitigating the spread of this magaifa rub some people the wrong way.

I still wonder if getting exposed while having antibodies strengthens the antibodies? (The benefit of not wearing a mask)
To the degree that reinfection is a concern (and I don’t think that is anywhere near settled science yet) it stands to reason that it is highly likely that continual exposure would afford better protection. That assumes that reinfection is from the same strain. If it is a mutated strain that causes reinfection then it’s anyone’s guess.

My friend received his quest antibody test results in 24 hours, he said if you sign up for MyQuest you get the results immediately when they’re ready instead of waiting for the urgent care to retrieve them and call you.
Which urgent cares are using Quest?

Respectfully, there's a difference between asking questions and spouting nonsense with no medical evidence.

Its like people who were encouraging "measles parties" over vaccines last year. It's dangerous.

I wonder if COVID is actually primarily transmitted through flatulence? Flatulence releases methane into the air. Masks would then actually have no impact on the spread (although they would definitely limit the impact of the flatulence on others).

Just another question that hasn’t been definitely settled by science just yet. Amazing how much we still don’t know.

I'm not sure how you can call someone saying "I wonder" anything other than asking a question. Like I said, it's a religion and anyone who steps out of line is to be admonished and beaten into submission.

You're entitled to wonder, but we all know you came up with this idea via a flatulence.

Right, which is why I asked why he’s asking. Did he hear this from an immunologist? It’s not a problem to ask, but what is the basis for the question? Honestly, I’ve heard this before from people on the street, and wanted to know if it’s complete nonsense to excuse non-masking or if there is some medical basis.

Right, and I want to know if what he’s saying has a basis in science or it’s just a rumor in the vein of “This strain is milder”

Internet musings have a way of being picked up and being viewed as mainstream.

The Venn diagram of "masks don't work" and musings about "maybe it's *good* to be constantly exposed and not wearing mask is good" is pretty much a single circle.

In truth, I first added a “Not to belittle” disclaimer but deleted it. Because I wanted to belittle just a little bit. Which was wrong, I agree.  :)

But I didn’t mean to actually be antagonistic. It was just a little pushback on yet another suggestion that “masks are bad” with no evidence. Of course, if there’s evidence, I’d like to see it.

I still wonder if getting exposed while having antibodies strengthens the antibodies? (The benefit of not wearing a mask)

It's a good question.  I remember you asked it a few months ago, and at that time I tried to find an answer, but couldn't.  I'm not an immunologist, just remember some immunology from my introductory biology class and tried to read some more.  I looked again last night, and found a couple of more advanced immunology books online, and I think I can give you an answer.

But my laptop crashed and I'm allotted too few minutes on this family computer, so I may not be able to post it till late tonight or tomorrow.  If you can't wait that long, the short answer is No, it's not a good idea to get re-exposed, and Yes you should wear a mask.  So thinking about it was a good idea, but actually doing it... not so much.
