I’m not sure how this compares to other places, but it does strike me as high as well. Is it because most are younger, or have treatments improved that much? Any doctor I’ve spoken with has struck down the milder strain theory.

Then again, of course the less serious cases discharge quicker, that is intuitive.

Were there really already 250 people admitted to the hospital in Lakewood the last month? Sounds like a really alarming number that I haven’t heard. But according to what I said, that would mean 12-25 of that cohort should end up dying. We’ve probably had 5-6 already. And most deaths lag.. r”l!

We’ll see, and we should daven that we be the exception and not the dorm. Ein Od Milvado!

Don’t know. The numbers are certainly a lot lower than they were in March, if that’s what we’re comparing to.

ETA: How many people were we saying tehillim for then vs. now? If we are at 5-10% of hospitalizations relative to what we were, do the amount of current known names reflect that? Checking the COVID tehillim thread quickly seems to show yes

I’ve heard the names Harrari, Blumberg, Grama, Hershkowitz. Which one wasn’t COVID?

Hershkowitz had a host of other medical issues (including sepsis prior to contracting covid), so it's possible he wasn't included.


Also, Harrai officially was from a cardiac issue.

It’s not just Lakewood now. Today’s statewide numbers were over 1300 for the first time since May. The counties with some of the highest numbers are Ocean, Mounmouth, Passaic, and Bergen. Not looking good.
