And don't we all know people who unfortunately got sick even though they were super careful? At least I do. We all need to put in our greatest effort to stop this monster but ultimately realize that its not in our control.
Plenty of people die in car accidents while wearing seat belts and plenty of drunk drivers get home safety.

The responsible thing is to wear a seatbelt and drive soberly. Proving something isn't 100% protective is no reason no to follow it.

(I'm not arguing with you, just illustrating)

I'm trying really hard to remember where I heard this last 🤔...

Feelings don't care about your facts.
That was an easy copy & paste. :)
But on a more serious note, there really is no need for the nastiness that some forum users apparently use to make their points.

People propagating deadly lies should be bullied. We should be proud.
I don't even know how to respond to that.
Shame on you for being proud to bully people who have another opinion than you.
Yes, in your eyes they are murderers. But in their eyes, you're extremely intolerant of others and flatly wrong about the science.
The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

You wouldn’t believe how many people have PMd me thanking me for my post about LH miles, and how they feel bullied when they try to discuss Star Alliance deals.

I’m glad they’re turning to me as their self appointed spokesperson. Just putting out these inconvenient facts, politically correct line-toeing or not! Shame on everyone for marginalizing these voices. I won’t let truth, facts, or logic get in the way of my straw-manning!

(The vast majority of posters on the DDF COVID board are in the “Corona-denier” category, and I have been called “contrarian” and “just looking to fight” many times when calling out their false and mostly incoherent arguments. You might want to choose another position to defend if you’re looking to feel heroic and defiant).
The sarcasm is totally unnecessary & feeds into the perception that too many posters here are disrespectful & nasty.
If you read my posts you will see that I wasn't looking to defend any position. I was merely putting facts out there that are considered inconvenient truths. Gathering more information is a helpful thing in weighing the proper course of action.
This forum is increasingly feeling like a Twitter mob where only "approved facts" are allowed to be mentioned while all others are just "lies".

Polls on DDF are anonymous. Start a poll in a new topic and PM all these imaginary people asking them to vote.
There it is again.
If someone mentions something that doesn't fit with your preconceived notions - it simply can't be true.
It's precisely snide comments like these that make others feel bullied.
Why the low level of discourse?

I’m calling your bluff. You said many people contacted you, and I’m saying I don’t believe you. I’m offering you an objective way to establish quantification of anonymous opinions on DDF, if you’re right, call my bluff.

(The vast majority of posters on the DDF COVID board are in the “Corona-denier” category).

Are you able to prove that?

I honestly don't see it that way at all, but no, I can't give you data, just the way I see it anecdotally. I see most people (not all!) are very cognizant of COVID but there's a vast difference in opinion on how to handle it on all different aspects and fronts. Outright deniers are in the minority.

Again!
In other words, if someone informs you about something that doesn't fit with your preconceived notions it simply is a bluff.
A little humility, please.
And no, you could have written that same post without the nastiness.

Exactly.
But they gang up and paint anyone with a middle-of-the-road opinion as liars, deniers, and worse.

It appears more like you were boxed into a corner and when you realize you can't back up your statements you're trying to discredit the other side.

Not taking any sides here, but I doubt any poll on here will prove anything either way. The ones I've seen don't attract enough responses for whatever reason. The thread can have hundreds or maybe even thousands of views but only a very small percentage actually participate.

ETA: OK I see a poll was actually created. Let's see what happens.

Ok, I set up a poll.

People are complaining that there is too much bullying, nastiness, sarcasm & intolerance on the Covid-19 threads, if you express an opinion that isn't politically correct.
Please vote in the poll regarding this.
Thank you.

Good point.
But it's worth a try.

Yes there absolutely are tradeoffs that need to be made, but there are some items which there is not real tradeoff of significance. One of those is large weddings. So much of the spread and the accompanying tragedies can be attributed to large weddings.

You totally missed my point and have derailed the conversation from the topic of COVID (where you suggest there are voices being muted) to the topic of bullying:

This wasn’t what I suggested you start a poll about. I actually agree that there’s nastiness, what I disagree with are the positions you’ve taken with regards to COVID, and I suggested you start a poll about those.

It’s also not a fair poll because there are three “yes” options and only one “no” option.

It's incredible how many people reached out to me to thank me for merely putting out some "inconvenient" facts to give a little balance to the picture.
What's even more incredible is how many people mentioned how they feel bullied on this forum if they don't toe the politically correct line. That was certainly an eye-opener.
I'm curious, how many?  ::)

Why would someone feel the need to toe any lines. If they are scared to post their opinion, just don't post anything.
