If only being safe from covid was a footnote in the Mishnah berurah.

No Chance it would be anything near what you want... good thing it isn't.

At this point it’s pretty clear that those of us (myself included) who thought it unlikely there would be a second wave in Lakewood are seeing what can reasonably be called (at least to some degree) a second wave. What started with chasunas, bungalow colonies and camps has progressed to some community spread. While it is hardly likely that it will be anything like March, there are some hospitalizations, and we need to at least be cognizant of the possibility of it making its way to the more vulnerable populations who would have more adverse outcomes. There is significant risk of government interference in Lakewood going forward and that’s something that needs to be considered as well.

I agree with ShaulYaakov and Good Sam here. The risks are just too great.

I don't think so. I know several people who tested this morning.

What's wrong with a COVID+ only minyan? I think it's very nice for people who tested positive to be able to daven with a minyan on Rosh Hashana.

100%.

This is basically the Israeli model of covid hotels. It's a wonderful idea. I think it's a pity they don't exist. It would make it a lot easier for people to not go to regular shuls if they had covid minyan options instead of staying home.

Thank you for your honesty. I think we can agree that all precautions must be taken over RH, even ones that may be uncomfortable, to ensure that the situation isn't exponentially worse in 10 days from now. Please wear masks and social distance as much as possible. The actions you take on RH can be as impactful as your tefilos.

My hot take is don't go to a non socially distanced, unmasked, indoor minyan and say "u'me bamageifah".

You realize it only takes a split second to transmit the virus? The only difference between 'quickly walking by' and being 'exposed for hours' is the likelihood of that event occurring.

Don't forget surfaces can be contaminated
The risk of infection from passing by an infected person wearing a mask on the street is so minimal that it may be less than the risk in a SD and masked shul with no known positives.

I think a COVID+ minyan is an amazing idea.
I also think there are definitely risks associated with having such minyanim.
I also think having those minyanim probably mitigates the chances of someone who is infected actually showing up to regular shul, or worse, a COVID-precautionary minyan, although maybe some of them would be nice enough to wear a mask.

Spoken from the perspective of someone who’s been asked by 2 people who are self-isolating for symptoms if I know of any COVID (precautionary) minyanim near them.

?#@!&!

Not a very high bar in Lakewood, which is very embarrassing.

A COVID+ minyan is a good idea only if it’s a backyard minyan and not outside any shuls. I guanrantee any shul that does this will have positive people entering to use the bathroom or sink “just for a minute!” I’m sure there will also be socializing with other shul members and an attraction for children wandering outside.

Arlington Shul sent out a follow up:

At the corona minyan, positive corona in the tent, those exposed outside. Don’t enter shul at all. For bathroom, use Toporovitch basement 530 Arlington (across Arlington).

It's nice of then to offer their basement.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.
