A friend of mine who was exposed on Rosh Hashana has been attending work and living life as usual, because “we’re all exposed anyway”. Just tested positive.

Fortunately, his Rav has been refusing him entry to Shul. So we’re all safe. B”h.
Look - someone who is willfully misunderstanding what exposure means!

Like not opening the thread. Which for the most part I find boring and not relevant.

-1 The blanket bans pesach time played an oversized role in getting us where we are now. When it is truly a choice between full lockdown and hefkerus it is not a shock that people view it that way.

I’m referring to a blanket ban of COVID positive attendees. I don’t think that’s extreme or comparable to Pesach at all.

It seems that the State has not yet decided to designate Lakewood a high risk location which would close all schools and yeshivos. They are deploying additional tests and tracers for now. They are in ongoing discussions with Lakewood askanim. With 240 additional positives today in Ocean County let’s see if their patience holds much longer.

How long are they willing to wait? At  current rates, numbers aren't going to begin to go down for a few weeks.

Sorry to say you’re dead dead wrong comparing these two. It’s completely fine to have a blanket ban on people with COVID going to minyan (or leaving their house for anything else). ONLY in Lakewood/Brooklyn is that even questioned- and there’s not a doctor that would disagree. Are you insinuating that it’s overly harsh to ask people with confirmed corona to stay home?!

This has nothing to do with locking everyone up completely, infected or not. You of all people should be able to discern the difference.

This should not have to be said.

I misunderstood what you meant, but still disagree. The best way to ensure that people keep going to their regular minyan is to not have an alternative. This is where things stand now as much as I dislike that this is where it is.

The best way to keep them out of shuls is to have a place for them to go.

Maybe, but it’s inexcusable that that’s the case. It’s dead wrong to even consider attending Shul while sick with a highly infectious potentially deadly virus. The fact that there was a harsh lockdown changes nothing about that equation.

And yes I agree with you
I think a COVID+ minyan is an amazing idea.
I also think there are definitely risks associated with having such minyanim.
I also think having those minyanim probably mitigates the chances of someone who is infected actually showing up to regular shul, or worse, a COVID-precautionary minyan, although maybe some of them would be nice enough to wear a mask.

Spoken from the perspective of someone who’s been asked by 2 people who are self-isolating for symptoms if I know of any COVID (precautionary) minyanim near them.

?#@!&!

And what about daas Torah unequivocally saying it's assur to go to shul with COVID?
