BMG just sent out a call that the government requests that everyone tests for COVID, and they are having mobile testing nearby the next few days. Everyone should test there, even if you already tested elsewhere or have tested positive for antibodies.

I know a family where they all got it from a first grader who caught it from his rebbe
Just wondering, how do people know 100% that they got it from a child (or anybody for that matter)? Never understood this.

An example: Everyone in the family is careful with no known exposure. Child is exposed to an outbreak at school, couple of days later starts showing symptoms, followed by the rest of the family showing symptoms a few days after him (throw in a succession of tests as well).

There is a way but it hasn’t been done in Lakewood. Still you can be fairly certain of the source in some cases. For example, all family members test negative following one member’s symptomatic positive, and then a few days later test positive with symptoms.

Most people in Lakewood especially people from families with children have likely been unknowingly exposed multiple times over the last few weeks.

Amazing how some of the same people who for months have presented so many baseless things as fact are jumping on how i didn't put in a disclaimer that it isn't a thousand percent certain. Nothing is a hundred percent but there can very easily be very good reason to assume things. This was before yom Tov btw

That's a constantly changing situation, but Chemed has had them at times, don't know about right now.

https://www.njspotlight.com/2020/10/whats-driving-covid-19-spike-lakewood-ocean-county-orthodox-jewish-community-fears/

This week, the township of just over 100,000 rose to the top of the state’s list of municipalities with the most positive cases as a percentage of population — 54.4 per 1,000 residents, according to an NJ Spotlight News analysis, or just over 5% of the township. That represents a doubling of coronavirus infection just since August.

....

It is hard to ignore, as Persichilli put it at the Oct. 2 roundtable, the negative impacts of Lakewood’s “large gatherings — weddings, funerals — where social distancing and wearing masks may not have been consistently followed.” But it is also true that the state’s ramping up of testing and tracing in the township will feed the counterpoint — often used by President Trump — that more testing only reveals more cases, not an outbreak.

Unfortunately, the calculus is not that simple. More testing doesn’t necessarily predicate a higher positivity rate. Testing across the state has increased since the beginning of October, and the daily positivity rate — the percentage of all tests performed each day that are positive — has hovered at just under 3%. Unpacking that number by town, however, is revealing. Lakewood’s last reported daily positivity rate, on Sept. 26, was 27%, nearly 10 times the state average, and its 5,639 current cases make up 36% of Ocean County’s total.

Are they serious? Reporting numbers from close to a month ago when the recent positivity is way down? I believe it is currently under 10%...

There are many issues with this article, including "The largest of Ocean County’s 33 municipalities...The coronavirus death toll in Lakewood has reached 204, the highest in Ocean County." Wouldn't you expect the largest municipality to have the highest death toll?

Why is that an issue? It may be expected, but that doesn't make it inaccurate.

Which municipality has the highest death rate per 100k?

It seems they are counting per capita, so the size wouldn't make a difference.

A point that is valid to stress is that Lakewood has significantly more people than the official census data of 10 years ago notes. I estimate more like 150k, not 103k.

They're trying to make it sound like it have the highest death rate which is far from true.

I went through the ones with over 50 deaths, lakewood and Brick are just under 2 per 1,000 which is right in the middle. TR is 1.8, Jackson is 1.3, Berkeley is 2.5, and Manchester is close to 4 per 1,000.

ETA: Lakewood, TR, Brick, and Manchester all have significant (non-jewish) senior populations which would explain why Jackson is much lower.

This is the trick they play, the media has been using it since day 1. When the raw number sounds worse they use the raw number, when the per capita number sounds worse they use the per capita number. There is nothing intellectually honest about it.
