A doctor I spoke with last night told me he has not seen any positives since Yom Tov, and said he’s picked up the same sentiment from other providers around town. While there may be symptomatic people not testing, he said he’s conducted plenty of test on people both symptomatic and feeling fine, just as he was through through YT. Through Yom Tov, he was seeing many positives daily, and now he hasn’t seen once since.

The day its reported by the health department is not the day of the test. It can easily by a week after the test was administered. 1 day of 0 positives doesn't mean much, but it is indicative of the direction things are headed.

Trying to understand what could be causing the virus to stop spreading, I wonder how many people are left in Lakewood who were never infected, have no antibodies and are taking no precautions.
In my shul (around 100 people), aside from myself, there are 5-6 others who are taking precautions. The vast majority of the others had covid and / or have antibodies.

You can have some immunity, or herd immunity, but there’s no such thing as “some herd immunity”. Herd immunity is a threshold of immunity beyond which presence of the virus isn’t expected to spread out of control.

You have either reached herd immunity, or you haven’t. If you haven’t then there might be some immunity in the community, but there’s no herd immunity.
