So you agree that we should definitely be restricting weddings for the foreseeable future?
We should be restricting them forever according to many letters put out by many rabbonim and roshei yeshiva over the years.

There is another uptick brewing. There need to be rules implemented for weddings and other simchos. This is the definition of insanity.

17 people from the frum community in Lakewood have passed away of COVID-19 in the last few weeks.
Where are you getting the 17 number from?

+1 Now is an opportunity to curb these things down once and for all.

Small reception.
Chuppah.
Full meal for limited guests.
Dancing with buffet available for all. Come for as short or as long as you’d like.

The end.

Bikur Cholim published a figure in October and I have added deaths that I am personally aware of since that date. It’s possible there are a couple I am missing as well. I believe almost all have been mentioned in the BDE thread.

For COVID, add outdoor parts when possible and separate area/restrictions for those who are high risk or being careful/no antibodies. And as with everything else not just simchos but especially so

DO NOT COME IF YOU ARE SYMPTOMATIC, EXPOSED, OR CONFIRMED COVID+ NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE.

It would also make a world of a difference if people who chose to travel for Simchas would quarantine both upon arrival at their destination and upon arrival back home if it was legally deemed necessary. But that’s impractical so people flaunt the rules and infections R”L spread.

How about stopping the hugging and kissing? There were hundreds of people that most likely got infected by weddings - maybe we can ask them what they did. Also I find music causes people to talk in your face very loudly thereby spitting... How about no loud music especially during the dinner. Asking people to make small and very different weddings is apparently too much - just a bit of social distancing may actually make a difference

Im with you on this. BUT BEWARE I know of a few family members at a wedding who were exceedingly careful (remained outside with two masks on!) and caught it anyways. Precautions are great but minimizing the time spent out and about needs to be recognized as a huge step. I.e. 10 minutes with no mask (but staying cognizant of not getting too close) is probably safer then 3 hours outdoors masked up.

Definitely in Lakewood albeit at lower numbers. Girls high school is going remote for an entire grade of girls except for those who have antibodies due to cases of covid.

Sounds like being responsible and closing schools with identified clusters is working and lowering the numbers.

Hard to argue that anything is lower. 7 day average today is 29.7 - as high as its been all month.

Think a lot of it is from outside the community; anecdotally I was by 3 urgent cares yesterday (Chemed/Friendly's/Chai Care) and the vast (~85%) of people waiting for covid tests weren't frum.

It's *definitely* still around in the frum community but at low levels.

My wife went to test last week (was negative BH), and while there were quite a few people waiting to be tested, she said she was practically the only one "fun unzere". I actually think the biggest indicator is that this thread has been so quiet lately ;-)

I am tracking the numbers released by the OCHD since June with a break Sukkos time when numbers stopped having any meaning. If you click on the globe in my profile that will open up the Google Sheet.
