The big difference between then and now is now it's a slow climb. Last time it went from 7 day average below 20 up to 55 in a week and a half. Now it's been hovering in the 30s for around a month and we just broke into the 40s.
When there are an average of 42 people a day getting infected you are at risk going about your daily activities even with a large percentage of people who are immune. People who are high risk (and everyone?) definitely need to be very cautious right now.

There's a 1 year old baby from Lakewood who was just admitted today to the hospital with MIS.

FTFYWhat is the CHEMED tracker showing?
I was in CHEMED yesterday. The line for covid tests was 50+ strong. Not a single yid in line.
I'm not who you think I am.

Chemed tracker update: after a chanuka lag the 7 day average is at 24, and there were 40 new cases today (tests taken over the past 2-3 days i.e. not a chanuka backlog).

I lost my sense of smell tonight BUT...

I was congested for a few days and have been on Sudafed almost non-stop. I can taste a little, but pretty limited.

Planning to test tonight for COVID. Are there any rapid testing sites around Lakewood? Or should I just do PCR and wait it out?

Refuah shleima! Chemed has a pretty quick turnaround on their PCRs. Rapids are worthless IME.

PCR and wait it out but obviously you and immediate contacts should quarantine in the meantime.

True story. Family member is a school nurse. Kid comes in complaining that he's not feeling well. He has 102. She asks him if anyone is sick at home. He says yeah, my mother and my father have covid.

I have no fever, no fatigue, no other symptoms besides cold and congestion. Loss of smell can be a result of congestion. Naturally, I'm taking all precautions, but I'm personally skeptical that it's COVID.

Hope you’re right, can’t hurt that much to quarantine for 24 hours until you get PCR results.

That's my plan. I just hope it's only 24 hours. How long for results on a Motzei Shabbos test?

Lost of smell and taste sounds like 99% COVID. Refuah Shelema!

(Anecdotally seems to be a spike of cases over the past week or so.)
