Ok granted. Although, I still don't think fabricated statements such as this one that has been debunked,
Lies.
should be let off scott free either.
Why, though? How does this claim make a difference in the discourse, and what does it affect? It’s more a feeling than anything else but I believe it to be a fact. Regardless, asking for a source for every irrelevant claim is time consuming and unenjoyable. If you don’t see the difference, I can’t help.
You can't give one person free rein to espouse falsehoods (not accusing anyone specifically) while the other has to meticulously provide proof for all theirs, even if the types of statements may have different ramifications (or some have no ramifications at all). There needs to be some kind of honesty and equity here.
Someone tried to use a false claim which was responded to and debunked as a cudgel and an argument. If the person would like to continue with this argument they then need to defend themself from that accusation with a source (which is, of course, impossible, as it was a lie).
I made a claim which is seemingly obvious on its face (I, PlatinumGuy, and Lurker have been called “contrarian” many times, I can try to provide quotes if you’d like) and it’s plainly obvious to me that the majority of posters here throughout the COVID era are more in the anti camp. It’s nearly impossible for me to quantify it so if you have evidence that refutes it I might back off of but I’m not using it as a cudgel so I hardly see how this is an argument.
Is this truly the hill you want to die on? That I did not provide a source for my assertion that
