Why is it even a Shayla to ask a Rav if there's symptoms and positive test? Maybe just to ask how many days to stay home?
If it was 100% certain that leaving your home after testing positive would infect someone else then I don’t think anyone would argue. But thats not the case, if that was the case entire schools, shuls etc would be infected by now (you can use 08701 as your lab).
So the entire equation is, was and will be how much risk tolerance we should have. Certainly a difficult matter.
The concept of asking competent rabbanim questions which relate to seemingly non-halachic matters is not new. The concept of seeing different rulings in different communities is also not new.
