I made a payment with my cc and it charged me the 3%

(for a while they didnt charge the 3% even though they said they would)

that's always possible. although, a)they're getting their processing fees anyway b) the whole 'cash advance' worry that CCs usually have is not relevant here where they aren't laying out anything.

Yeah I noticed now they don't even warn you about the fee when you execute the payment either.

Can anyone tell me what's up with Venmo these days?

I spent some time on their site reading about them. Seems like you can use CCs to pay up to $3,000/day, after identity verification? On the other hand, I did see another thread here on DDF that bemoaned their lack of customer service and propensity for freezing accounts.

Any current knowledge would be appreciated.

According to https://venmo.com/info/fees there is always a 3% charge on CCs. I do get a kick of seeing all these advertisements on the NYC subway and taxis's over two years after the Venmo 2k/month party ended though.

I use it to send money between my wifes account and mine. I find it faster and easier then paypal.

Hmm. You may have taught me something today. I was always under the impression that qp is only between 2 chase accounts.

Nope.
But I think one account ha to be Chase.
Between two Chase accounts is a breeze - instant funds availability.

The problem is my email address is already linked to my credit card profile so when I get a Chase quick pay to that email address there's nothing to do with those funds. How would I change that?

The email address linked to your credit cards or bank account has nothing to do with your QP email address. You set them in the QP settings and is in no way related to your chase.com contact email.
