DOT complaints, post your experiences here

i had positive experiences getting refunds that otherwise wouldnt have happened from KLM israel and from tap portugal after complaining to the DOT, and so far no luck against air serbia.
what are you're success/failure stories with the DOT?

in my past few complaints to the dot it seems like i have been receiving replies directly from the airline, without ever getting the standard reply from the dot agent that he will fwd complaint etc and i should receive a answer within 30 days. any other DP ?

Same here. TK gave me the same lame response they gave me directly.

I flew Delta/Air France from TLV to LAX. Our luggage was delayed over a day so I bought my baby new stretchies and filed a claim, submitting the receipt.  They sent an email saying they need the receipt and I replied I sent it to them already and then sent them a second email with the receipt.  They closed my case claiming I didn’t have the receipt. I responded several times by email and got no response.  Then I tried calling and they said all correspondence needed to be by email. I’m not sure my next step.  Can I file a DOT complaint?

You should probable just try and resend the email from website again. The DoT can only enforce laws.

As I am sure has been discussed on other threads there are 2 types of DOT complaints.
The informal one that DOT forwards to airline (30 days for response and 60 to resolve) and the formal one (posts in public record on regulations.gov needs to be in a specific format is responded to by a lawyer etc)
Many times if you take the formal route the airline will contact to settle so the outcome isnt in public record and so the dont get a formal ruling against them
just remember to follow the rules when filing (format evidence requested actions etc)
