   Wether for a family chill(older kids) or on a date.

 I see there's many when googling escape rooms has anyone went to any of them and can recommend a decent one?

I have yet to see a room that's not being monitored 24/7.
   there's nothing private in the room except for the people being locked in there and someone watching you.

As meantioned below, there's a heter being that your monitored by a camera in every room...
   for safety issues they have a camera and so no one breaks or destroys the room.
  And you'll be surprised they come out many times when someone's doing something they shouldn't be.
  Especially if you request hints they come and help you!

Felix Roasting Co on Park between 30/31st (I think)

Bibble and Sip on 253w 51st Street.

Frisson Espresso is a short walk south on 47th between 8th and 9th

hi-collar. It’s a Japanese style coffee bar and has some very fancy beans and brewing methodologies.

Also abracao for some great espresso.

Ace Hotel (also meh coffee unless you get the stumptown in the front, but great environment to hunker down)
Seven Grams (really just love their nitro cold brew with ice) in Chelsea
Variety in Chelsea (more of a usual stop)
Joe Pro in Chelsea (not much seating but great hipster fermented coffee and also a lot of very top shelf beans if you’re into that)
Boundless plains (I think) in like Wall St area, pretty much the only good coffee spot in that area IMO.
Blue Bottle near Bryant Park had polite people working but delicious coffee.
Stumptown for old timey dressed mustachioed baristas

If you want a break from coffee The Hideout Chai Bar on LES is really special homemade Chai. Much more complex flavor than any other chai I've had in the city (including most indian restaurants)
