I wanted to upgrade my sprint plan but they told me I have a'grandfather plan' and a smartphone wont work even if I add thier $15 data pkg.
Does anyone know y it wont work?
Also is there any smartphone or smartphone type (pixi?) phone what would work?

They threw us off by stating that we didn't follow all of their fine print, this after having a great rate for a number of years. They are trying (successfully) to get rid of all the inexpensive plans out there. Our school switched to ATT and are quite happy. We thought of Verizon but it actually didn't work in our building even though they claimed we are surrounded with cell towers. A Verizon guy came down with two phones to prove to me it works and left after he couldn't get me on the second phone. Bottom line, Sprint will do whatever they can to get rid of you if you have a good plan.

if you have a plan with free roaming get a phone that allows to stay on roaming only and start the calling. they dont like people roaming and then you can start calling to complain that their service is bad...i did it but it took patience on each call

9630 will work on that plan. It's the tour 9630 not bold.
Data won't work unless u have a bberry pack on there.

I have a blackberry data pack add-on, It's $30 IIRC

People also get the htc touch pro 2 since besides for windows there are hacks to run android on it.
I think you can also use the Samsung intrepid windows phone .and as mentioned the centre or treo will also work.
