I don't think we should ban it, but I do think it should get it's own board, which can be ignored, where (like JS) the posts don't count towards your post count.

Does the person who started the thread get to decide what constitutes "political discussion?" If yes let's be clear about this. I think it would definitely have an impact as to how people vote.

Insightful political discussion should be encouraged, but I haven't seen much of that in the four months I've been on DDF. 

What we have is questions, memes, and videos that are posted without comment, just to stir things up or to poke fun at particular officials, candidates, voters, or political parties. 

It would be refreshing to hear questions from someone who sincerely wants to understand those with opposing views.  And to have thoughtfully composed answers, supported by quoted sources.

There are two subjects that shouldn't be discussed. One is politics and the other has less than a zero chance of being banned.

But what does banning achieve exactly?
