I feel bad for everyone in these phone schooling situations, the teachers that have to home school over the phone with no experience in this field, with their kids at home, the parents that have to be busy with it, and  the children that get frustrated. Maybe we should have adopted a system where schools lay off their teachers and have them go on government subsidies ( like many people parents are forced to do), plus donations from parents and the community While private talented individuals would compete to offer the best phone/zoom classes

Using the word wrong and ignorant doesn’t make it so, whatever someone else says is an opinion, unless it’s against the Torah or a verifiable fact.

Many Schools have or had some level of pressure to adopt zoom, and most schools don’t want to do it on haskafic grounds. This letter definitely helps the administrators.
We all knew the BMG poskim would never be matir any sort of zoom in the end, the same way we can predict what most outspoken rabbanoim will pasken on most well known haskafa questions.
They released a short letter, with no explanations, when combined with their haskafa, doesn’t allow me to believe they actually were considering any zoom classes seriously. If you know otherwise than you are right, and I take it back.
.
It was a very strong possibility and i know that you are wrong. Even if you knew the result before that does not mean that it is because they superficially listened to one person and just spit out what he wanted. That can maybe happen more when it is something which may need an immediate pause but they do not just sign everything someone places in front of them. Things are very well thought through. They are responsible people. From what you wrote, apparently more responsible than you.

What percentage of parents in Lakewood have only kosher phones?
Or rather, how many households in Lakewood have a DVD player with kids watching (for hours/day)?
A sizable percentage.
I'm not who you think I am.

A sizable percentage.
Yes. A big question is what the effect would be for kids who otherwise never had any sort of exposure. Even if a mother has an email only or very filtered smartphone but the kids NEVER use it this would be their first exposure. THat is no small thing for these families.

Back to the original subject, my 17 year old brother in law was in middle of a shiur when the teacher got annoyed by having to admit people from the waiting room and he turned it off. Sure enough, they got Zoom bombed 5 minutes later.

Stay safe and don't take shortcuts.

I'm sure any of the Bochurim would've volunteered to be on "guard duty" instead of having to participate  :D

Is someone in the waiting room not able to be ignored?  Just as a teacher might not let a student into the classroom after X amount of time, the same should be with Zoom.

They can be kicked out of the waiting room and not allowed in. I don't understand how that changes anything

Dear Valued Customer,

Starting July 19th, Zoom will require that all meetings have a Passcode or a Waiting Room enabled.
We have designed these security measures to give you control over your meeting security options while keeping the join experience as frictionless as possible.

•   For meetings that do not have either a Passcode or Waiting Room enabled by July 19th, Zoom will enable a Waiting Room for you

•   You can customize the Waiting Room experience with an approved list of domains that can bypass the Waiting Room and directly join the meeting

•   You can find meetings that are scheduled without a Passcode by pulling the following report

•   For meeting join information, we are renaming “Passwords” to “Passcodes” to better align with its role of allowing people in a meeting
