You can keep this phone without paying monthly, just be sure to turn off auto pay.
Can't port AT&T numbers. (you can buy a number cheaply on ebay or get a free phone and number from tracphone for $15)
Great for using as trade in phone.
Can be unlocked using an RSIM (YMMV).
Claim your referral code and switch your plan to the $30 plan (right after you activate) to get an addition month free service, and the third month will bee $5.

Pay $60 - first month service + phone
Claim some code? And switch to $30 for subsequent months.  Besides 3rd month will be $30.

Your paying $60 for the 60 dollar plan, if on the day of activation you switch it to the $30 plan they'll give you credit which will give you another month free.
In addition if you secure a $25 referral coupon from the cricket referral program, then you'll be able to get another month for $5.

Usmobile.com basically gives away free Sims and and you can fill it up with their minimum plan. Shouldn't be more than a couple dollars
