Glatt Kosher in Jerusalem
« on: November 30, 2011, 10:20:22 AM »
Hi,

I am traveling with my family to Jerusalem and am looking for recommendations for hotels that are Glatt and Chalav Israel. I understand the Citadel is, but is probably out of the price range.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

Negative. The Citadel is rarely glatt. How about the Leonardo Plaza?

Ramada Renaissance, Jerusalem Gate
I agree that the Ramada is a decent choice. But if you plan on beig there for Shabbos I'd go with the plaza as its walkable to the kossel.

Since its a jewish state ALL milk is chalav yisroel. Glatt is a goos idea as the non-glatt rabbinate is a state agency and is required by law to ceritfy everything that's kosher; generally meaning they have to utilize every possible kula

Food wise u might be better off at the Citadel/mamilla which are both closer to the Kosel & adjacent to many nice resturants

maybe true in Jerusalem and beni braq, but traveling to eliat i saw milk not cholov yisroel
Food wise u might be better off at the Citadel/mamilla which are both closer to the Kosel & adjacent to many nice resturants
true but it may be hard shabbos as you would need to heat it up yourself... its much easier to have the hotel food
i would recommend the Leonardo plaza. i have stayed there, very very good accommodations

Anyone have more info on whether Inbal is mehadrin?
The website says
The Kashrut of the hotel is under the Jerusalem Rabbinate, serving Glatt/Mehadrin food over Shabbat and Jewish Holidays

Sounds like it is not mehadrin during the week but is mehadrin on shabbos, but that would be a good trick how they do it. Do they have separate keilim?

Ok, here is the deal if I understood it- the hotel is under regular rabbanut, but the mashgiach says they only buy mehadrin products. The reason they dont want the rabbanut mehadrin hasgocho is because they want to be able serve when requested fois gras or filet minon which only regular rabbanut allows.
