Josbank...........

I went through a stage that a got a whole lot of stuff from Jos A Bank, then realised that IMO the stuff isn't even worth the heavily discounted prices when they come down to like 80% off, never mind the ridiculous original prices that i find to be literally a joke.

I returned every last thing - credit where its due:  they have a fantastic open return policy, theyll even pay for a UPS pickup to come get the return goods from you - and since then i dont even bother looking at anything from them regardless of the sale.

Why do you say that? $25 for a nice, big 100% cashmere scarf? $35 for Cashmere/wool dress pants? Where do you find such items (and quality) anywhere else for those prices?

i never bought any of their cashmere stuff - and on secon thoughts maybe i should - dunno how wrong you can go on a cashmere scarf for that price , but i bought suits, trousers, and sweaters.  wasnt satisfied with the quality or cut of the trousers nor of the suits, and the merino sweaters would probably have been worth the 70% off price for their full price IMHO

id take a paul fredrick merino sweater on clearance even for a slightly higher price any day.
the fabric and cut are in a different league IMO. they are incredibly soft and comfortable (especially this years line - its australian merino and even softer than they have been in the past), and the full zip has a very nice cut

I hate their  fabrics and cuts.

Their 100% wool pants normally costs $175. I haven't seen them cost below $60 even during the biggests sales.
When did u get them for $35?

They just had the wool/cashmere pants (reg. $165) for $39.99 this past weekend, stackable with coupons and CC point bonuses.

although cuts are somthing that depends on the build i do agree that for lots of ppl the cuts are bad. and their quality over all is terrible excluding some of the wrinkle free shirts were pretty impressive . i have tried dress pans, cotton wrinkle free, suits ex and sig.   very unsatisfied the cotton pant i bought in wal mart for half the price lasted longer and looks better.

Now may be the season to BUMP this topic...
Still on the hunt for a cashmere coat.

When are sales better, after Dec. 25 or after Dec 31?

I don't mean to steal txtmax4's thread, but I have the same questions for a casual (can be dressed up or down) wool (not necessarily Cashmere) coat. Where in NYC and when is it best to buy?

Only thing I've bought from Jos. Bank has been shirts - so far, I like 'em. Just bought a whole bunch on their last sale, including some white-on-white shirts with french cuffs, though I haven't worn those yet.

Maybe I should check out their wool coats.

My question is, how can you tell how warm a coat is? I recently lost a fantastic wool & Cashmere shabbos coat that was super-warm, and I want to replace it. Regardless of price, how can I tell how warm a coat is?

What brand was that coat? Where'd you get it?

I don't think it was a particular brand...I bought it at Ultimatum about 16 years ago. I was about 13 at the time, it was one of those "you'll grow into it" purchases...

I'd be surprised if it's warm enough for NY though I'm sure it's good looking.

That and major sale at Banana means 50% off and you still paid >$200. (I'm exaggerating a bit, but you get my drift).

Its got nice style to it. And its boarder-lining warm for NY even though I don't need it for NY

Your right about the 50% off + 15% off for opening banana Card = $127
