Need a non-voip number. The one you sent is voip verification which does not work for the site I'm using.

Sorry not familiar , I’ve used them in the past. IIRC it didn’t work for Google

Are you trying this for the US or other countries.

Is your need single use or recurring?

When I needed something for Israeli SMS verification the way I was able to get it to work was to port a working Israeli mobile number to a voip provider (Zadarma). It costs me $2 to keep it (but they require you prepay for a year in order to port in a number). It now works for most websites and services, though I did have one website where SMS came through garbled, and upon investigation I found out that they have some kind of technology that garbles the SMS for virtual providers.

How about if you get a cheap prepaid mobile number and then port it to GV (after you've used it as a true mobile number for some SMS).

This will work if the number is with a real carrier when you register it for receiving SMS from the site. Once you port it to GV it won't work for other sites that have the same requirement. I think the OP is looking for a solution that will work for other websites in the future.

Try TextNow. They'll give you a free phone number that can send and receive texts from their app. It shows up on carrier lookup sites as a landline and not a voip provider. The caveat is you need to send or receive a text once a week or so or they will take away the number and reassign it.

ETA: ...but spydialer says it's a landline...
