No link to the actual preprint, so no way to decipher what they're trying to say
Haven't read it, so can't promise it'll be any clearer, but this seems to be the preprint:

New study suggests COVID reinfection is not that rare:

https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2021/02/03/covid-reinfection-study/

This study states that those reinfected were mostly asymptomatic.

1) 3,249 predominantly male, 18-20-year-old Marine recruits.
2) Among 189 seropositive participants, 19 (10.1%) had at least one positive PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 during the six-week follow-up (1.1 cases per person-year).
3) In contrast, 1,079 (48.0%) of the 2,247 seronegative participants tested positive (6.2 cases per person-year).

Is there a way to measure viral load/transmission of reinfected patients and/or of fully vaccinated patients who test positive? Clarity in that regard becomes increasingly more important as time goes by.

Would be amazing if we had quantified data on antibody levels of the seropositive marines. This way we can infer whether higher antibody levels inversely correlate to reinfection.

Yes the preprint notes significantly lower viral loads.
It would explain why Israel's data shows so few reinfections, even if they are more likely to be positive, the window to test positive is smaller.

Which implies they’re less likely to transmit. How much less likely is the big question here.

We don't necessarily know that any of them shedded viable virus at any point, but yeah

Isn’t it a relative of his who is ill?

Yeah - was just explaining why someone would follow him without knowing who he is :)

While I haven't personally heard of such cases yet, Crown Heights is now definitely undergoing a second wave with many people having attended events getting sick days later.

Has the Gedalia Society become the boy that cried "wolf"? Or even worse, not even hearing a swift and decisive call to action right now?

IMHO the current situation calls for drastic and immediate action if we don't want to spend ספירת העומר this year like we did last year, with schools and shuls shut down!  However, past experience should teach us to make sensible precautions, and not draconian senseless ones.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Let them suggest the precautions and then send them to me for review prior to publishing.  :P

The first thing I would suggest is communicating to all venues used for events the seriousness of the situation, having them restrict crowds, temperature checks at the entrance, proper ventilation, encourage having guests test (where practical/possible). Similar precautions at shuls. Encourage outdoor davening. Possibly other measures.

And encourage people to get the vaccine (and try to take measures to get supplies).

The question is only about the plural. There is one which anybody on this forum should be able to identify as one that you consider to be a "sensible precaution"
