Yea, this isn't jaywalking. And if insurance and finances are affecting your attitude more than your kids and (future) grandkids, we're operating on completely different wavelengths.

How about jaywalking across Eastern Parkway, does that compare?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

And as I pointed out, it doesn't seem like there's any documentation of IgG levels in the reinfection cases prior to reinfection.
Correct. Does that help or just cause a cytokine storm? Now I am just playing devil's advocate.

For this reason I wouldn't be overly concerned if somehow done right after a test. This is all hypothetical anyhow. What is not is what it demonstrates about what the incentivisation of immunity passports can do.

No. You have some control over when you cross and how much risk you're putting yourself in based on how many cars are coming your way. The oncoming drivers also have many incentives not to hit you (damage, insurance, incarceration), whereas the virus has no reason to slow down or swerve. This is not jaywalking.

You don't see the difference between them?
The danger from the flu is greater than the danger from COVID for someone with antibodies, that's why I asked.

So with all this information you don't have, how is this not rolling the dice?

Oh, I just remembered that I was NEVER tested for COVID-19, so I guess I wouldn't count as reinfection!

I'm confused. Is it only those that have not already been infected or is it "patients with a history of Covid and antibodies becoming reinfected" that we're also concerned about.

If only these guys would admit to "we don't know or understand anything, we're just trying our best out of an abudance of caution because no human really knows or understands this virus" I think they (and the Gedaliah Society in Crown Heights) would have more credibility and adherence.

I think they mean all those who have not already been infected during this current wave.

These aren't תנאים or אמוראים. They are all alive and could be asked.

I'm saying how I understood it.

This morning I spoke to one of the doctors who signed this paper and he was very noncommittal about reliance on antibodies based on what he's been seeing/hearing (in town) regarding reinfection.

My conclusion based on this conversation is that this sentence means they're concerned about super spreader events for those people who haven't been infected recently.

But it’s unfair to accuse them of creating a stirah when there is a perfectly reasonable way to understand what they meant (even if it doesn’t line up with what we previously believed). Presumably they are intelligent enough to have thought of that themselves.

Ein Od Milvado. That said, with this as with many diseases, there is actually a lot that *is* known (that the average guy on the street doesn’t know). Humility is great, but decisive statements are better than humble ones when the prevailing attitude is “nobody knows anything, so I’ll do whatever I want”.

Why do you insist on requiring everyone to adhere to a zero level of knowledge? Surely you acknowledge that there is much already known?

Saying we know nothing sounds like a very effective message ::)

They have been very clear that everything is based on the knowledge known or indicated at the time. Really not sure what you want them to write.

Hashkaficlly speaking, maybe last time you had the שמירה of שומר פתאים ה. You didn't do anything irresponsible, just going about your daily life. Not sure that that would apply when you are purposely infecting yourself. Sounds like we might be assuming that we have a whole lot more control of events than we actually have.
@ExGingi this.
Especially for an advocate of humility.

Reinfection does seem quite real. Relative and her daughter both lost all taste and smell as well as other symptoms in March. Daughter never tested but she did and was positive. Subsequent negative test as well as antibodies. They both had mild symptoms over the past week and tested positive on the rapid.

It also seems like more and more people are showing that antibodies may run out earlier than 6 months. This will be important to keep an eye on through the winter and into spring.

Follow up. Negative on the PCR with antibodies.
