Hypothesis that lingering Covid can reappear in PCR tests after being cleared

Israeli case of fatal reinfection of a senior, had weak antibody response from first infection. Reinfection from different strain was fatal.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Family member is quarantining for another time because he tested positive this week after having antibodies from the 1st strain.
Symptoms are slightly different and easier then last time around

Have they tested for antibodies in the past?
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

When did he last check for antibodies?

Did he have an antibody test with numbers, or just Positive/Negative for antibodies? When did he get the antibody test, and if there was a number, what was it?

Is the new infection one of the new mutations (British, South African)?

A Williamsburg Hatzalah member told me today that he tested positive for covid now, although he's pretty sure he had covid in March. However, he never tested at the time for covid and antibodies.

Hmmm. Did he do any COVID transports lately?

I don't know, but what difference would it make how he caught it.

On a related note, a BP Hatzalah member told me today that most who just thought they had it in March didn't actually have it confirmed at the time, and most likely just got it now if infected.

I can't speak for Williamsburg specifically but in Toronto most Hatzalah calls are Covid related, and Covid prevalence is ~1/4 of NY

It doesn’t “matter”, I’m just curious. Hatzalah transports are one indication of COVID prevelenc/spread in a community, that’s it.

COVID calls ≠ COIVD transports.

I misunderstood your question as to trying to identify the source of infection. Hatzalah can't transport patients in TO.

+1. I have family members who had it twice as well. It is still true the odds of reinfection are much lower than the first time

Family friend contracted COVID this week for a second time after having it in April. She tested positive on both a PCR and rapid, has a fever and congestion along with aches and pains. Doctor Friedman from CHEMED advised that it is likely a foreign strain which is all over Lakewood and seems to affect even people with antibodies at a higher rate.

He’s probably right, but how does he know the foreign strain is all over Lakewood? Who’s sequencing?

It’s bad news if it is. The British variant spreaders much faster and specifically in kids/schools

I believe there has been some (limited) sequencing but not sure
