Most of us aren't using our portable hard drives as servers, so this information is interesting yet useless.
It does confirm that you should stay away from Seagate as mentioned upthread.

You can't eliminate a company's one product, because the other may be bad🧐

What is the model number?

Dose the drive spin up, spin down?

Put the drive to your ear when you plug it in, and describe exactly what you hear.
its avtually a 2tb, plug it in light goes on, but i dont hear anything.
doesnt say model number anywhere. has pn number

Remove the drive from the enclosure, and connect it to a SATA wire.

You will see the model number on the drive, and let me know if you hear a faint beeping noise.

Yes. The top should separate from the actual drive, allowing you to plug the drive into the computer directly

Taking off the top part makes it like a regular internal drive. You can either stick it into a computer or get a wire to connect it to your computer externally.
I'll let @Square take it over from here:)
