what's that supposed to mean??? why should the purchase place matter, it depends where it was manufactured, and some places in the usa carry bottles from different manaf. plants.
The story as I understand it:
Once upon a time all Kahlua was bottled in Mexico, even the stuff sold stateside. Then after a few incidents of "ethnic bandits" jacking the trucks filled with bottles, they started shipping it up stateside in tankers, which were then bottled in the USA (Arkansas IIRC). Apparently the tankers were rented out, and were not cleaned properly for any hechsherim's standards.
Apparently ~5 years ago something was changed in the plant in Mexico, that even the stuff bottled down there isn't kosher anymore. This is all from a rather reliable LA rabbi who specializes in kashrus and is known for actually visiting many factories to find out the metziyus of foods.
As far as that LBD link, I am surprised- has anyone tried calling them to verify?
@bigez747: The labels don't say where they are manufactured, they say where they are bottled (either Mexico or Arkansas I believe).
