In case anyone needs a reminder, the longer walks mostly mean more retail space/sales opportunities - it's very intentional.

I always head back to the terminal while the family waits for the luggage and brings it curbside.

And when party of 2 with no checked luggage?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

That's when we Uber :)
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

FTFY

TBH - MIA is the airport to avoid. Can't find a reason to fly there when FLL is conveniently located. Though FLL can use some upgrades. I have no idea why there are no seats/benches at the Car Rental center. Does the entire party of travelers need to stand while waiting for a car, or do they prefer all car rentals with a party larger than 1 to head back to the terminal to pick up the rest of the people?
+1 Arrving in MIA with AA is not fun. The one thing that FLL was missing was a lounge (getting soda and water from Cafe Kalik is just not the same  ;) ) but now I'm excited to go check out the new lounge!

My  prizes from CV :)

Maybe we can make an airport ranking thread. Is there a worse airport in terms of MWG (Miles of Walking to Gate) than LHR?
CDG is right up there
Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.

JFK T4 is a close runner up for distance of walking.

While LGA couldn't get another runway, they got a whole lot more taxiways. Which is what you're walking over to get to your gate. Indeed a pain but maybe it's for the greater good

DTW is worse than JFK T4
At least it seems so to me.

FRA wins first prize. Worst airport in terms of walking. They should learn from HKG and SIN how to build moving walkways in such distances, and how to CLEARLY signpost directions.

and its not only the walking, but the elevators, the escalators, the trains, the busses, and who knows what.

ORD terminal 5 for domestic is a nightmare. Has to be the longest walk I ever had.
Flew Delta out of there yesterday. Walk to gate was under 5 minutes. Flew out of JFK term 4 gate b55 to ord on monday, and walk is probably 12-15 minutes.

clearly you haven't been to some of the worst airports. ORD T5 simply isn't large enough to make that list.

I'm not sure why I'm only seeing this now, but...

If you're talking about Delta, if my memory serves me right, they have air trains to shuttle you around the concourse.
In the other terminal, it's much less walking than JFK T4 or LGA TB in my opinion.

West gates at TBIT is the worst
They invested $15 in new airport and didn't even build walkway for 15 min walk!
All there is is mini go carts to take you
if you have stroller forget about it
