United eliminating change fee on domestic flights

I booked a united fare through Amex, and the price dropped. I wanted to rebook with the cheaper fare, but when I search the same dates, the flights that I want to rebook only says 'Not available'. (What I would do to rebook an SWA flight).

Is there something different I need to do to get it to work?

I've found that if switching either my origin or destination from a specific airport to a city (i.e. ORD to CHI - All airports) unblocks my current flight and allows me to switch it

It was an AC award but I’m assuming TK is the same.
