As a card holder, I always bought basic. I'm not willing to pay the premium usually just for the seat assignment, which I am almost always able to work out anyway (especially when flying with kids). With this now, iwouks absolutely be more open to paying the premium.

1. Brilliant doing this on a Sunday. Bought them a full day of positive press.
2. They want more people to buy up from basic. This will help.
3. Helps them take away a Southwest competitive advantage.
They switched my basic economy flight no fee

This is probably not the perfect thread, but hopefully not too far off either.
I'm not finding a clear answer online...
If i use my ETC to book domestic flight and then need to change, I understand that no fees, just need to pay the fare difference.
What about if i need to cancel it? Would they return the money to the ETC? (not BE) Any fees for that?

Did you get an answer? Similar question what if I change it to a fully refundable ticket and then cancel?

Are you able to cancel a domestic BASIC ECONOMY ticket after 24 hours and either get a future flight credit or etc?

Or only regular economy?

It says it on every page on United's website...

No more waiver for basic economy.

Did United bring back change fees on international flights? Trying to change a NYC-TLV and they’re giving me a $120 change fee + fare difference.

I booked a united fare through Amex, and the price dropped. I wanted to rebook with the cheaper fare, but when I search the same dates, the flights that I want to rebook only says 'Not available'. (What I would do to rebook an SWA flight).

Is there something different I need to do to get it to work?

TIA

I ran into a similar issue a while ago. I think i switched to a different flight, then switched back to the flight i actually wanted.

This has a stopover
The change fee is based on the operating carriers policy
check your eTicket number chances is that it is not on 016 stock

Iirc, this was a display issue one morning with United's website and was corrected afterwards.

That could be however this seems to be unrelated

On a round trip fare booked on united.com operated outbound by LX and return on UA there are 2 fare basis codes, one based on the LX change policy for the outbound and a second based on UA for the return
Additionally they notify you in the confirmation email
Changes with fee (this is because baggage and fare rules follow first TATL carrier policy)

Another thing that is more technical is that if you look at the actual reciept of a mixed itinerary like this it often displays as if UA uses your payment to purchase a second ticket issues a different eTicket number with payment marked as an EMD (often these reservations don't process immediately for this reason)
