This seems a little half baked or very niche.  At the height of corona, a $499 AF with no credits to offset...?  And no benefit for frequent flyers already at Gold to push them towards Platinum?  This would only appeal to an Emirates flyer that has no status or routinely makes Silver and wants an easier path to Gold.

Thanks for posting, I was gona ask about it.

Won't it make sense for anyone once flights between UAE and Israel are established... you'll be going out of your way but for the experience it may be worth the extra travel time...especially if you can get upgraded and see the airport in UAE.

Anyone going that route would prob already be in premium cabin and have lounge access.

Are there any real benefits of Silver elite for $99 or Gold for $499?

I dont think so but was newsworthy enough to post

An observation from the fine print: the PP Select allows unlimited guests and AUs (which appear to be free) also get their own PP.  Could be interesting.... :-)

Ritz does as well and it's a much better card.
EK miles and Silver/Gold status are a snoozefest.

Quote from: DoC
The $499 annual fee on the premium rewards card is ridiculous, especially considering you need to spend $40,000 annually to keep status on the card

if they start flying to TLV, it"ll be valuable for some, or just not, cuz there won't be any availability..

What's the value of having EK Silver/Gold?

I agree, but the doors to the Ritz are closed to many.

But only if you already have a Chase Marriott card.  And if you don't, then you have to be under 5/24 to play.

Will other airlines match the status?

Another detail buried in the fine print of the $499 card:

"If the $40,000 (USD 40,000) spend threshold is not met in any subsequent year, or if you do not qualify as per the Emirates Skywards Program Rules, your tier membership will be changed to Silver tier membership as long as you maintain a valid Card Account."

So guaranteed Silver status just for having the card.
