Motorola Defy Satellite Link
« on: June 29, 2023, 12:20:47 PM »
Hi, has anyone here tried the Motorola Defy Satellite Link and its app?  We are planning on a lot of road trips, some of them in places where the cell service is limited.  This device supposedly links directly to satellites to send texts/whatsapps without a network connection. Who know, we might even be able to receive the latest Dan's deal in the depths of the wilderness! ;)

Iím not sure it supports WhatsApp, the plans seem to be buckets of messages (with the premium plan capping out at 300 non-emergency messages a month (ostensibly that for either sending or receiving, so really very few messages).

From your post it sounds like you were hoping for something you can use to stay in regular contact with people so perhaps this isnít a good fit.

It also is just coming to market now, like literally became available in the US in the past few days. It isnít even clear what their pricing is, it seems theyíre going to be charging $149 for the device and include the premium plan through October (with no published pricing beyond that).
