@Alexsei
It seems like you are somewhere along in this process.
Can you comment on how many documents do you need documents for?
What kind of documentation is required to prove that you are a decendant?

Due to the information you provided about your ancestor, we would like to point out again the prerequisites for being eligible under the new law:

You must be a descendant of former Austrian citizens or persons who were citizens of successor states of the former Austro-Hungarian Monarchy or stateless at the time, but had their residence within the borders of the present Republic of Austria, and who were forced to flee from the territory of today’s Austria before May 15, 1955, because they had to fear or suffered persecution by the NSDAP (National Socialist German Worker’s Party) or other authorities of the so-called “Third Reich” or because they had to fear or suffered persecution because of defending the democratic Republic of Austria

Since your ancestor seemingly never lived on the territory of the present Republic of Austria, please recheck the respective prerequisites above.

Seems like I'm not eligible.
I will have to give the German one a go.

How did you apply?
I filled out the questionnaire and then contacted the embassy.
I explained my family history to them. I figured it is better to ask them before going through with all the legwork.

It might save you money on a visa to a country that offers a waiver to Lithuanian passport holders but not to passport holders of whatever other countries you have citizenship of.

I'm eligible but ambivalent about associating with the country after the treatment to my ancestors (particularly absent any perceived need or benefit).

I don’t think you can do father’s father in Hungary without learning to speak Hungarian.
