I don't think many of you could have watch but the girl from Israel winning the gold was priceless. The two Russian twins were big favorites to go 1 - 2. The first Russian had a major fault. As she sat there with her coach waiting for the score I honestly felt if the cameras was not on them her coach would have beat her silly. The expression on the coaches face was one of total anger.
The second Russian (current world champ) had a good performance but was not enough. The Russians right away protested the scoring.
How about that for a twist. A country complaining the judges are favoring Israel.

I find it ironic that the other Israeli to win gold was also a victory based on rules, IMO. He tied with the second place athlete. The tiebreaker is the execution score, but they tied on that also. So the next tiebreaker is the difficulty level, and the Israeli was one tenth of a point higher in that.
Winning based on difficulty level is subjective IMO. I can see why there may be a rational to say the opposite - the opponent completed his routine better. The Israeli, while he had a more impressive routine, fell short on more of it to only achieve an equal score.
