Just read a little more, the biggest issue is storing data on Googleís servers. Any warrant can get them to hand everything over. The data might be encrypted but they have the key to access it.
Again what are you worried about?
I'm not concerned about the government as I've nothing to hide. Do I prefer my conversations not to be read by any potential hacker? Yes!

Hey Iím not saying hackers canít read your messages because with WhatsApp Iím sure someone that is determined will be able to. But despite that - what about a potential hacker that can potentially throw you in jail, not a concern at all? Just because itís government sanctioned doesnít mean the victim is guilty. Anyone remotely associated with a potential criminal (especially so in Jewish community) has all their records raked over with a fine comb to see how they can twist it into a juicy narrative.

Anyone know if they would be approved by Gentech (installed by TAG)?
They will allow whatever you tell them.
I need TG and they opened it for me on desktop.
The problem with those 2 filters mentioned before is that it only works on a mobile device, not on a desktop.

Will trying out these apps mess up my primary telegram installation?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

They will allow whatever you tell them.

Is that true even if it's an account associated with TAG?

No, don't forget Telegram has multi device support, so it's considered like another device.

Right, but - to his question - since this interacts with your account it can (let's say it would want as part of the filtering) mess with your things.

A question I received:
I have Facebook, do I need to treat WhatsApp like my Facebook massages, what's the difference? And what's with my previous messages?

Any messages being sent and received are technically E2E encrypted, the "problem" lies where either party backups their data. In short any message sent to anyone who backups their data (to the cloud) isn't E2E anymore.
E2E is a high level of encryption. Not having it doesn't mean your data isn't secure, but say, the court ordered google to give the FBI access to their servers then your data can be passed along.

So now back to WhatsApp and Facebook. No, your previous WhatsApp messages won't be seen by facebook, and yes you should've never sent anything you didn't want the government (or technically the admin of whichever cloud backup used be it google or iCloud) to see. Unless your absolutely certain neither party backed up their data.

Signal vs Telegram

As much as Telegram regular chats aren't E2E (which they can't be since everything is stored on the cloud (which is one of the biggest advantages)) the data they store on the cloud isn't USA based and in order to decrypt it it would require the courts of 6 countries to work hand in hand. In other words probably more secure then any WhatsApp chat ever backed up.

As for signal it's E2E and even their chats are E2E but unless you need top security there is no reason to have a family chat be E2E especially when it comes with a few downsides.
(No cloud backup, the more participants the slower the chat gets, if a person changes their number it can issues etc..)
If your running a business and want a group chat that's as secure as possible then perhaps signal is for you.

PSA

The above disregards the kosher aspect.
With regards to that, opening telegram to the Jewish house poses a risk just like that of the internet, it's a dangerous place. In that regard WhatsApp and Signal don't have that issue, and that's the sole reason perhaps not to switch over. For that reason I believe it's important to spread the fact that there is a kosher solution, just as there are filters for the world wide web.
So perhaps encourage Signal and WhatsApp, and let know those that are installing Telegram of the dangers and it's solution.

I personally don't mind keeping WhatsApp and I'm happy that now people are looking at other options leading to more diversification. Hopefully there won't be one platform that everyone is reliant on, and that's always a good thing.

Thank you for the PSA. I fully agree.

However, the fact is that TG outperforms the other networks in sharing files, unlimited storage etc. There are also large groups on TG, a thing that is not possible on the other apps.

I think there should be more awareness to the TG Filters like www.cloudveil.org/cloudveil-messenger

I spoke to TAG today and they said they only work with 4 filtering companies and won't recommend or rather have no info on any other filter.
