For those who want to churn and/or want to get the bonus without paying the annual fee: Wait until the A/F gets charged, pay it off with the rest of the bill, and the sign-up bonus will post (at the end of that billing cycle). Then call to close the account and ask to be refunded. They can't charge an A/F for a card you aren't using. You will not lose the miles once they are in your US Airways account.

It seems that if after you use the card you just let it sit unused for a couple months, they will then email you with a targeted offer for 15,000 more points for spending $750 a month for three months.

Anyone know when this card will be ending?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Depends how comfortable you are with possibly fielding the "why did you just close this card" question.

I waited 4 days in between closing LH and reapplying and was an instant approval.

Originally approved for 30k offer w fee, saw 40k offer and was eventually matched. AF posted ~20 days ago, miles posted in my dividend miles account - should I close or downgrade to avoid AF? PR said have 30 days to cancel and get fee back... Thoughts?

I spoke to a CSR about downgrading to a no-AF Barclayscard and he said that they would claw back to 40k miles if I were to downgrade and have my AF credited (60 day period end tomorrow).  Is there any truth to this? The miles already posted to my USAirways account.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Why is that a "problem"? 89 dollars for 15k miles? Good deal.

I'm assuming you haven't touched the card since you met the last 15k bonus?

Has anyone recently been approved, spent the $1, saw the 40K post and cancelled to get AF refunded?

Have same question.  CSR claimed they would claw back miles from my USAirways account if I downgraded or cancelled...curious to see if that's happened to anyone here or whether its a case of DROPR.
