For those who want to churn and/or want to get the bonus without paying the annual fee: Wait until the A/F gets charged, pay it off with the rest of the bill, and the sign-up bonus will post (at the end of that billing cycle). Then call to close the account and ask to be refunded. They can't charge an A/F for a card you aren't using. You will not lose the miles once they are in your US Airways account.

It seems that if after you use the card you just let it sit unused for a couple months, they will then email you with a targeted offer for 15,000 more points for spending $750 a month for three months.

CSR told me that if I remove the AF, I will loose the benefits of the card. Is it DROPR or I have to ask them to waive it without loosing the benefits (meaning otherwise I will indeed loose the benefits)?

Sounds like BS. Maybe you got the same agent who said if you waive the AF they clawback the points...

It sounded more legit... She told me the AF will be removed permanently.

She's probably downgrading your card (maybe to bronze) which doesn't have benefits

I just got my card. I don't see a lot of recent discussion on getting the AF waived.  Any tips?
It's hardest to get the af waived on the US Airways card. Much easier on the M&M card.

Thought so.. Did anyone have success getting the AF waived without downgrading the  card?

I PUTPAC, told Relationship Mgr that I thought I saw on the app page 1st yr AF waived. She spent about 5 min looking for notes on the account, came back negative, and proceeded to open a ticket on the matter. Gave me a case # and said I should hear back in 7-10.

She was talking about downgrading the card.
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Yes. I couldn't believe how easy it was and I'm surprised people are having trouble with it. All I did was say I see the posted and they took it off.

I canceled my US card on July 1st and reapplied today and got this, "Currently we are unable to offer you a credit card issued by Barclays Bank Delaware. Details on why we could not make you a credit offer will be mailed to you." What can I do?
