A very nice Rep called me back after I tweeted, and apologetically told me that since they are giving me the 40k, they cannot credit the AF. She also mentioned that they did just waive the AF on my M&M but US Air is more difficult. $:-\$ $:-\$

They called me back as well and credited the AF as a one time courtesy.

From what I have read, it's unlikely they will approve you for the card if you still have one open.

Just called and got the AF waived. Rep told me that I would lose the benefits and not get the 40K and then said let me see what I can do and put me on hold. Came back and said she was able to waive the fee. I just paid my bill as it's due in a few days and then hopefully the credit will be on the next statement. Will wait a few days and then check my US account to see if I actually got the points.

There's a loophole that someone mentioned earlier on the thread which i used successfully. Spend more than $89 your first month and pay it off before the statement closes. They will treat is as if you paid the AF, and therefore post your miles. Once your miles post, call them within 60 days of opening the card, and they will waive the fee. I got downgraded, so I don't know about waiving the fee and keeping the card, but this is a way to get the bonus without paying the AF.

I got a letter explaining my denial of the US airways card a week after canceling one "our records show that you've already established the maximum allowable number of this product with us". Is this based on the t&c or is there a way to fight this?
