To signup for credit cards you can click here or on the “other credit cards” tab on top of the DansDeals logo banner to view links for card offers. Then just click on the link to “View all card offers by issuing bank” and scroll down to view all card offers from the bank of your choice.

For those who want to churn and/or want to get the bonus without paying the annual fee: Wait until the A/F gets charged, pay it off with the rest of the bill, and the sign-up bonus will post (at the end of that billing cycle). Then call to close the account and ask to be refunded. They can't charge an A/F for a card you aren't using. You will not lose the miles once they are in your US Airways account.

It seems that if after you use the card you just let it sit unused for a couple months, they will then email you with a targeted offer for 15,000 more points for spending $750 a month for three months.

I got an email from U.S air with a link to invite friends and get 10k points for every friend that signs up, up to 50k points.
The email says that all friends have to apply and be approved by Jan 18th so that might be when the card dies.

Your quote doesn't say one must be approved by that date too. (It does say in the email I got [which I got after closing my card, so it's probably not worth anything])

2 reps have told me they don't see an option to waive the AF. (It has not yet posted to my account.) What have people been doing?

Thanks. Do I still need to make a purchase to get the points? Or is waiving the AF enough?

Waiving the AF is enough.

Pay the AF, then the miles will post, and then after the miles post to your USAirways account, have them refund the fee/downgrade the card/cancel the card and you will get the $89 back.
Getting the AF waived before the miles post may result in you not getting the miles.

If approved automatically yes, but if you have to HUCA your chances are very slim,

ETF:
Best is to downgrade to a different product, not closing, since even after closing they could still see you had the card.

Is downgrading to the no fee card good enough ? Or better a different card all together . like the rewards card?
I downgraded to the us air no fee card 2 weeks ago

No fee seems to be good enough.
I didn't read the whole thread, but I don't remember anyone having a problem.

I asked for a different card but they did not want to. I will try and report back.

By the way my BIL downgraded to the no fee us air card and got instant approval again
