Did anyone do the balance transfer for 10000 miles?  Can you do it if you don't have debt?

Is there a minimum amount? Or a minimum time frame it has to be there?

How soon after receiving denial letter did you call in? Maybe it has something to do with the elapsed time between app and recon?

Can do it to any card, just make sure it's a card that will credit you as soon as it posts (some will make you wait as long as a month to make sure it really cleared).

It posts to the account you're "transferring the balance from" as a payment (same as if you would send a check or billpay). IIRC BofA sent me a check as soon as this one cleared.

I believe that you only get 10,000 miles if you do a balance transfer of 10,000.  It says on the app UP TO 10,000 with a balance transfer.....but they charge 3% to transfer to transferring $10,000 will cost you $300...

I just did a 2BM for 2 USairways cards-  one was automatically approved.

   It seems like it would almost be better if it hadn't been because now if I call up won't they deny it because of applying for the same card I have already?

 Will telling them I need 2 separate cards work with Barclays?

Thats exactly what I did and the rep had no problem with it....just have a good reason why you need two cards.

When I did it the BT fee was 1%, so for US at 1cpm I went for it.

Yes. No purchase points for BT. As a side note, anyone know if they award miles for the purchase checks they mailed me?

I called Barclays and tried to get a 2nd card approved. They wouldn't budge. AND I first had my mother call ( it was her application) and I guess they asked if they could pull her credit and she said yes- and they had already pulled it twice. I was pretty annoyed at that.
I called back after that and they still wouldn't budge and then the guy tells me he's the same one we just spoke to.


 They want me to build a credit history with them.

 How many times should I try calling? I don't have much experience with Barclays.

           I'm going to wait until tomorrow to try again. Hopefully won't get the same person.

I think once you call they notate your account so when you try calling back they see the note that you tried before and they decided no

Yes, same as if you sent a $10k check/payment to one of your CC accounts.

As part of the signup bonus you get 1 mile per $1 BT up to $10k. But over 10k, or after the offer expires, there's no promotion so no points. And since BTs don't earn points, you're not getting one extra point (ontop of the base points), just clarifying.

I think he's saying that original 1 ppd is part of the signup bonus and doesn't actually have anything to do with a 1:1 payout. 

The base points that you get for spending don't apply to the BT.

Lemme explain again; when a cc offers 50k points for spending $5k as a signup bonus, it isn't considered as if your earning 10 ppd. Its just a signup bonus.

With this cc, part of the the signup bonus offer is earning 1 ppd per BT dollar. Its not base points, it's signup bonus points that happen to be 1 per $1 BT'd.
