For those who want to churn and/or want to get the bonus without paying the annual fee: Wait until the A/F gets charged, pay it off with the rest of the bill, and the sign-up bonus will post (at the end of that billing cycle). Then call to close the account and ask to be refunded. They can't charge an A/F for a card you aren't using. You will not lose the miles once they are in your US Airways account.

It seems that if after you use the card you just let it sit unused for a couple months, they will then email you with a targeted offer for 15,000 more points for spending $750 a month for three months.

So if its best to just churn the US AIR before it goes away instead of trying to get a 2nd one approved, what do I downgrade the US AIR too? Also - once I downgrade , can I churn it right away? Or do I need to wait a day or for something before I do this?

Barclay Rewards, arrival,
And applying after getting and activating the converted card, is probably a good idea.

Problem is that by the time it comes, there might not be enough time to chrun the US AIR.

In the past couple of years I only got 3, and trying to get the 4th proved to be impossible.

Not when I cancelled previously, but now every recon agent see that I had the card many times before already.

Ok - just downgraded my US AIR to an Arrival where I get 10k points after spending $1k. And the guy told me to apply for US AIR again by Monday or so and it shouldnt be a problem. The guy was super nice abotu it all and really wanted me to squeeze ever possible benefit out of them.

After the whole thing he even told me that many ppl have numerous same cards and Barclays doesnt care at all. So he was like "u should totally get the US AIR again if u like it and get the arrival + too to go with ur now downgraded Arrival. Great guy!
