For those who want to churn and/or want to get the bonus without paying the annual fee: Wait until the A/F gets charged, pay it off with the rest of the bill, and the sign-up bonus will post (at the end of that billing cycle). Then call to close the account and ask to be refunded. They can't charge an A/F for a card you aren't using. You will not lose the miles once they are in your US Airways account.

It seems that if after you use the card you just let it sit unused for a couple months, they will then email you with a targeted offer for 15,000 more points for spending $750 a month for three months.

I called recon last week. Asked to get the fee wavid, he transferred me to customer service and CS tell's me straight way, am waiving your fee, I just need managers approval.

Fee waved under 5 min. Get creative.
finally has success in getting af waived even after 60 days... Just used the "I didn't pay af for AA card only for the U.S. air card" excuse

Two questions:
1) If you have the US Airways cards and get the bonus when the statement closes next month, will those miles automatically get transferred into AA miles?
2) If you applied lets say yesterday and got denied, will you still have 30 days to get approved, or will you only have until merger tomorrow?

I applied for the us airways card in November and cancelled a week ago, I applied again online and i was denied. I called up recon and explained that i didnt find the us airways card useful so i cancelled but then someone told me its becoming an american airlines card so i applied again, the agent didnt buy my story. Any suggestions of what else to tell them when i HUCA?

you can try the same story or if they pulled your credit you can use that but if you just closed the card a week ago, the system usually automatically rejects you without even pulling your credit and it's very hard to get approved again...

I just called recon again and they said they cant approve a new card but they can open the previously cancelled card. Should i go ahead with that or try HUCA again?

Best bet is prob to re-open and then downgrade and then reapply however, I think it won't be able to be done in time.

called to either downgrade or waive the annual fee, rep said at this time we have no offers on your account nothing that he can do. I asked to speak with a supervisor who was gracious enough to credit me back the $89 for this year. done and done :-)

Wow, impressive. They were adamantly against waiving it when I called for my wife and I. Anyone get their new Aviator card yet?

S/o asked me:
Not had success in getting us-airways annual fee reimbursed because it has been more than 60 days.
it is worth it for them to have an AA card for the free luggage.
Is there a downside to canceling their AA citi advantage card so that they only pay one annual fee for an AA card?

Makes sense, as the Barclays AA Aviator Red MasterCard now gets you a free bag on US and AA flights.

Congratulations, you've earned Dividend Miles Select benefits*

Thanks for being a US Airways MasterCard® cardholder. Just for using your card, we're converting 10,000 of your miles into Preferred-qualifying miles. These miles count toward your Dividend Miles Preferred status in the upcoming program year.1

Plus, for the next 12 months, we'll waive the award processing fee when you redeem your miles for award travel. And remember, with Dividend Miles Select benefits, award travel starts at just 20,000 miles – 5,000 fewer miles than for non-cardholders.

With 10k from this card and 10k from citi executive I only need another 5k for Aa gold
So the 10k Mqm's never posted.
Who should I contact ? Does US airways still have customer service ? will Barclays be able to help me ?
