i think trump was too angry on the debate. the last series of debates 4 yrs ago he was just mocking and full of confidence everyone else and really wasnt angry. I think people were turned off by his anger. he could say all the arguments he made tonight with an air of mockery or slight smile it just puts people at ease that he's in control. when ur angry people think you're less in control.

i dont know any reports whether he did preperations or not but it sounds like he at least had in his head some detailed responses in the beginning regarding supreme court pick and others. usually he'll just say half sentences but it sounds like he put some coherence in the beginning.
and then the fighting began so it all went out the window
