No need they’re putting hand sanitizer at the entrance and a big sign saying “you must wear a mask והמבין יבין״.

They also have signs not to talk in Shul.

Forest Park:

As per the horaa of the Rov, the following restriction are to be followed for Simchas Torah.

All shul members and anyone who has davened in the shul consistently for two weeks before Simchas Torah may participate in Hakafos provided they adhere to the usual conditions posted, namely, no covid symptoms, have had no recent exposure to someone that has symptoms of or has active covid etc.

Anyone that has active Covid in their family must speak to the Rov before they can enter the Shul.

All visitors, including 'family' of members, non-members and those who have not consistently davened in shul for two weeks before Simchas Torah, may only come if they currently have confirmed antibodies, a recent negative Covid test or have recovered from confirmed Covid. If not, they can only participate in Hakafos provided they wear a mask. They must also adhere to the usual conditions posted, namely, no covid symptoms, have had no recent exposure to someone that has symptoms of or has active covid etc.

It is very much encouraged for everyone to wear a mask if possible.

These policies apply to all ages, including children and bochurim.

In addition, Hakafos will be shorter this year.

There will be a social distance Minyan for those who cannot attend Hakafos in the shul due to the risk of infection. Please text 732.278.2650 for details.

Anyone has any questions on any of these guidelines should please reach out to the Rov.

What a ridiculously convoluted policy

What a ridiculously convoluted policy

It’s convoluted, but at least the shul is taking a stand.

Eh, more like a lean, or a shuffle. This is far from a concrete policy.

Still better than most Shuls. That outdoor minyan (“with social distancing”) sounds sketchy though, almost like an invite for COVID+ people...

Don’t worry, there’s already a COVID+ minyan in this neighborhood (they do not allow exposed people to attend, only positive, which is a serious plus). It does say the SD minyan is for those who are at risk of infection, not vice versa.

The Rav wears a mask in Shul despite having antibodies and is at the forefront of the community response. This is arguably the most Yeshivish Shul in Lakewood. (I said arguably :P)

The quoted statement said “due to the risk of infection”, it didn’t say whose risk so it was somewhat more ambiguous than your “for those who are at risk of infection” version.

You're right. Everyone should follow PGGM and then be shocked when no one listens.

ETA: Considering the fact that the overwhelming majority of spread is from people who are sick/exposed but walk around like nothing is going on, that should be the biggest focal point.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Appreciate them trying even if it means watering down the guidelines to the point where it might only mitigate somewhat, but practically speaking this is so useless. Too complex to ever be followed.

Will this happen?

nope. I know a family that davens there. One of them has symptoms and doesn't want to test. Whole family has been in shul all yom tov, no antibodies.
