I’m starting to think the explosion could possibly have been largely mitigated if people would have simply stayed home when exposed or positive as instructed. I’m blown away with how many people I’m interacting with have this notion that it’s completely normal to disregard this.

I posted a quote from R Malkiel’s gabbai about this a few weeks ago toward the beginning of the uptick and he might just have been right.

It's ironic that the all our discussions and debates here on DDF all assumed people had this minimum level of common sense.

It could very well be if the focus was/is on actually things that could help ( like stressing the point that if you have the disease,  stay home) Instead of the impractical and mostly useless practices ( not getting into argument now about masks and SD,but you get the point) maybe there would be less problems.

The only people I know who were doing that were those who couldn't deal with any restrictions at all.
