It's not about who is bigger, it's just that their derech/hadracha doesn't necessarily have any bearing on mine.

The other side of this. My brother's shul has been very makpid, masks/outdoors ever since the beginning. They were finally ready to open an indoor/unmasked minyan (I think only for vaxed/recovered) and sent an email out to the shul. Someone responded to the email saying that despite the fact that such a thing might be safe and is within CDC guidelines, it is against local ordinances and if they go ahead with it, he will report them to the town.

Add this guy to the list - someone tested positive shortly before his flight to Argentina, so he forged the test results and flew anyway, only to have his fever detected upon arrival, at which point he confessed. At least it wasn't one of us; maybe we should learn from him the perils of forging COVID documents...

Obviously no-one should outright forge covid-19 documents to counter reality. However I do see a difference with documents that have nothing to do with reality but rather technicalities.

For example, I tested positive for COVID-19 less than 72 hours prior to my flight to Israel in February. I had every reason in the world to believe that it was a false positive. However, I did practice precautions including avoiding going to shul for זכור. I subsequently got 2 negative PCR tests. I did not disclose the positive test as that would have precluded me for boarding the flight. There was no scientific reason for me to avoid boarding the flight. (9 days after the positive test I got a phone call about needing to quarantine/isolate. I really felt bad for the guy who actually seemed to believe there's any validity or logic to his request.
